Russian Aristocrat

Bariatinskaya was born into Russian nobility. At 18 she married one of the Tsar’s aides-de-camp and became Princess of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn. During the 1840s she was painted by Franz Xaver Winterhalter, with one of these portraits now in the J. Paul Getty Museum.

Bonheur is regarded as one of the most famous female painters of the 19th Century. She was known for her paintings involving animals, and some of her works are today displayed at the Musee d’Orsay and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

American Businessman and Politician

Rockefeller was a prominent member of the famous and wealthy Rockefeller family. He was elected Governor of New York throughout the 1960s and afterwards became the Vice-President of the United States under Gerald Ford between 1974-1977. He was an art collector who also became President of the Museum of Modern Art.

German Architect

Speer was chief architect of the Nazi Party and part of Hitler’s inner circle during World War II. He designed the Reich Chancellery and made the plans for re-designing Berlin on a grand scale. He was convicted of war crimes at the Nuremburg trials and sentenced to 20 years imprisonment.
